False. Nutrition still plays a huge role in preserving muscle, preventing malnutrition, and feeling your best.“If I’m on a GLP-1, I don’t need to think about food anymore.”

Not true. Quality matters — especially protein, fiber, and hydration.“I’ll just eat less of whatever I want.”
That can work short-term, but long-term success comes from what you eat, how you eat, and how consistent your habits are.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) at Grain by Grain
-
No — a dietitian and a nutritionist are not the same.
The term “nutritionist” is not legally protected in most states, meaning anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, regardless of training.
A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a legally protected title that requires a degree in nutrition, supervised practice hours, passing a national exam, and completing continuing education to maintain credentials.
When you work with an RDN, you can feel confident you’re speaking with a licensed nutrition expert trained to provide safe, effective, and personalized nutrition counseling. Here at Grain by Grain, we only provide evidence-based care.
-
Yes! Many health plans cover nutrition counseling (also called medical nutrition therapy), especially if it's related to a condition like weight loss, diabetes, PCOS, or high blood pressure. We’ll help verify your benefits before your first session so you know what’s covered.
-
Yes! We provide telehealth nutrition counseling so you can meet with your dietitian online from anywhere. Virtual sessions are secure, HIPAA-compliant, and typically covered by insurance the same way as in-person visits.
The dietitians provide virtual nutrition counseling for clients in California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Washington, and beyond. See Locations Served for more.

Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) can support a wide range of health concerns, including diabetes, prediabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, PCOS, digestive issues, food allergies or intolerances, weight management, sports performance, and general healthy eating habits. If you have a medical condition or a specific nutrition goal, a dietitian can provide evidence-based guidance tailored to your needs.
At Grain by Grain, we’ve been trained to work with multiple conditions — and even multiple conditions at once — so your care plan addresses the whole picture, not just one issue at a time. If you have a medical condition or a specific nutrition goal, a dietitian can provide evidence-based guidance tailored to your needs.
-
Your first session is a deep dive into your health story, lifestyle, and goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that reflects your preferences, culture, and schedule — with clear next steps and a roadmap for progress.
-
Not the rigid kind. Instead of strict meal plans, we provide flexible meal frameworks, portion guidance, and recipe ideas tailored to your goals, food preferences, and lifestyle. Our goal is to help you build long-term habits — not just follow a plan for a week.
Our goal is to help you build sustainable habits, not short-term fixes.
